latimes:

Strong majority backs Jerry Brown’s tax-hike initiative: 64% of those surveyed said they supported the measure that the governor hopes to place on the November ballot. It would hike the sales tax and levies on upper incomes to help raise money for schools and balance the state’s budget.

This article is just about public support for Brown’s tax proposal, but ignore that for a second.
73% of Californian Republicans, 50% of Independents, and 45% of Democrats are not in favor of protecting schools?  Maybe it’s just the phrasing that makes them look bad, but I’m fed up with education being considered for cuts.  I feel so lucky to have been able to go to a private high school and university, but education cuts (at least in California) have been discussed and acted upon since I moved to this state in 2001.  It’s mind-boggling.  Is no one considering the future of our state (remember we’re the 8th largest economy in the world? We’re basically our own country)?  Taxes SUCK, no one likes them.  However, if paying a bit more means a higher quality of education for a better FUTURE without worries of class scheduling, salary cuts, extracurricular cuts, etc, isn’t that worth it?
Can I just go to Sacramento and yell at people, please? Who wants to join me?  Seriously, this summer let’s try to meet with representatives and represent the youth frustration at budget cuts.  We can yell at the UC Chancellors all we want, but the source of it all is at the state capital.

Dear compadres,

After taking a long study break preparing for our econ final, I came across a Youtube video that caught my eye. A face guy scientist dropped his Macbook Pro off of a 20 story building to prove it wouldnt break…it didn’t. While I believed the video, a few of my fiends did not. This led to the dumbest bet of my life. After dropping my macbook off the fourth floor of leavey…I soon realized you can’t believe everything you see on youtube.

Tragically, all of my notes and study guides for the econ test were on this computer, so I would appreciate it if one of you guys could so generously forward me any study guides that would help me prepare for this final exam. To top it all off, it’s officially my birthday.
I love you all,

hi we’re a fraternity with one of the hottest up/coming DJs performing on the 7th. we told people without vaginas that it’d be $10 to get in, perfectly reasonable. then somehow because it’s week of, we’ll double that without any real warning.

fuck off pikapp, saw Dillon Francis/munchi/major lazer for free in August at Mad Decent Block Party, free in May at UCLA, and also at HARD Summer.  All of these were far better venues than your house could ever be. thanks for the warning guys.

if it was CONTROL at the Avalon in Hollywood, $20, or even $30 would be worth it.  In the backyard of your shitty fraternity house?  Go the fuck home

Today I saw

a homeless white guy

wearing nothing but shiny leggings + a backpack/bike

taking a shower

in a fountain

right next to campus

what up, USC

what did I just watch

It’s really unfair to the rest of the world that a wealth countrylikeSwitzerlandcan say “we’re neutral”andhardlyspend a dime a defense. I don’tknowwhywe letthem get away with it. Sweden and Finland getaway with spending very little on defense to

Grandparents just legitimately asked me if I wanted them to start looking for women I could potentially get arranged with and marry.

Hooray India?
