This show is gonna be UNREAL.  Especially since Congorock just got added to the lineup too.  Click the picture to get yourselves tickets, you can’t miss this.  Club Nokia is also one of my favorite venues in LA.  Last time I was there, I saw Childish Gambino.  Simian Mobile Disco there was also sick.

DailyEDM: EDC 2012: $207 Million For Clark County

dailyedm:

“The three-day Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC) held at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway in June 2012 pumped an estimated $207 million into the Clark County economy, according to an economic impact report released today by Beacon Economics, LLC.

The study, commissioned by the producers of Electric…

HEY LA, REMEMBER HOW YOU’RE HELLA BROKE?!

An EDC week highlighting not only local up and coming LA DJs/producers, but also headlining talent at the PLETHORA of clubs we’ve got around here that Insomniac already has relations with (Greystone Manor, Playhouse, Palladium, Avalon, Exchange, Yost & Sutra in the OC, and more) culminating with a 2 day event back at Expo Park using all the available facilities (fields near the parking structure and/or natural history museum, swimming arena (IMAGINE INSTALLING FOUNTAINS INTO THE OLYMPIC SIZED POOL….can you imagine some ‘World of Color’), sports arena, and of course the COLISEUM).

The Figueroa corridor through downtown is going through accelerated development to make it a giant row of hotels.  Work out shuttles and hotel deals (a la EDC Vegas), work out a deal with LA Live (where Staples Center is) for entertainment options (set it up as a meeting spot for shuttles. People can also WALK to expo park from there. LA Liveneedsthat influx of money, especially with the costs of an impending football stadium).  Yes, traffic down Fig would be horrendous during the 2 day event, but thankfully downtown is set up like a perfect grid and people can go down Vermont, Hoover, Normandie and turn off MLK, Adams, or Expo.  LA Metro’s Expo line would most likely see record revenue since the line goes right through downtown straight to Expo Park.  USC would also stand to make a significant profit from filling up probably all the parking lots.

Art installations can be set up throughout downtown (we have a monthly DTLA art walk already), and also at Expo Park.  I can envision a giant meeting spot/chillout/art area in the Rose Garden at Expo Park as well.

This would be the “preparty” for EDC Las Vegas, perhaps a month or 6 weeks after EDC LA.  The lineups would have to be varied enough so as to not totally cannibalize EDC Vegas.  That said, EDC Vegas has become and will always be Insomniac’s crown jewel.  It is the international destination, such as Tomorrowland is.

Profits from EDC LA could fund a much more ambitious EDC Vegas as well.

Just a few thoughts on how EDC could be brought back to LA, and become larger than it ever was while ensuring a large economic impact on the city.  Thoughts, ideas, feedback, etc are welcome.

LET’S MAKE THIS HAPPEN.

A petition to the city,perhaps?
