Hollywood has certainly leaned towards sequels and franchises and adaptations for better ROI, but that doesn’t mean Hollywood isn’t putting out good movies. Were we complaining about Toy Story 3, Mission Impossible 4, The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, The Hunger Games, The Dark Knight, and so many more?
While I agree that Hollywood should green light more novel ideas (Inception, anyone), it’s not a sad state of affairs where Hollywood is churning out shit. There’s good movies and plenty of bad movies. Chill out, “intellectuals”.
This is like how we look on the 90s in such a positive light. It’s a nostalgia effect about the “good ol days.”
