Well, officially dropped out of studying abroad.
Feels like ripping off a bandaid haha.
Going to spend next semester focusing on my startup ideas, finding an internship doing marketing/advertising for a tech company in LA (perhaps Google?), and be able to graduate a semester early WITH BOTH of my minors (Communication & The Entertainment Industry; Consumer Behavior).
So yeah, I want to travel and see the world. Almost everyone I’ve asked for advice in regards to my dilemma talks about studying abroad like a once-in-a-lifetime experience. I’m sure it is. This is what I realized, though. My priorities are to see as much of the world as possible.
The whole being a poor student thing isn’t all that appealing here, and being a STUDENT in another country really isn’t my priority either. In the future, I don’t want to explore countries as a tourist either though. I want to visit a country and really get to know the people, the culture. That’s what fascinates me. I want to come home from these trips with wisdom and stories from people’s experiences all around the world.
This upcoming semester will be transformative for me, and I truly believe I’m making the right decision by staying. Giving myself this semester to focus on hitting the ground running once I graduate.
Plus, an excuse to make this upcoming semester even more epic:
- several friends graduating this may
- coachella
- beyond wonderland
- spring break epic roadtrip?
- beginning to love LA for what it is
Needless to say, I’m excited :).
23 hours/week at work + 18 units of my toughest semester at USC…but the promise of this keeps me goin. Came home and cleared all this with the parentals, booking flights this weekend!!!
November 25: Dayglow at the Shrine Auditorium (LA)
December 14-16: LAX -> Dubai (explore, aquarium, partay)
December 17-26: Dubai -> Delhi -> Patna (to kick it with the fam)
Dec 27-30: Patna -> Goa (SUNBURN FESTIVAL 2011!)
Dec 31 - Jan 3: Goa -> Delhi -> Montreal (new years, kickin it with Meghie and Phil)
Jan 3-5: HOME
Jan 5-May 5: SINGAPORE
Not to mention the end of this month alone:
October 22: Wolfgang Gartner at the Music Box in Hollywood
October 28: HARD Haunted at the Shrine Auditorium (RUSKO, LAIDBACK LUKE <3)
October 29: ESCAPE FROM WONDERLAND at the NOS Events Center with some of my best friends!!!
A little angry that Go Ventures completely screwed up Monster Massive. I was pretty excited for Nero, Zed, Caspa, and especially Armin, but Escape is an amazing alternative. Maybe I’ll pick up discounted EDC 2012 tix from there!
It’s going to be a fun last week of October, EPIC winter break, and life-changing spring semester.
Disappearing for a while. Going digitally “off the grid”-ish.
Peace Tumblr, Twitter. Facebook I guess I’ll check from time to time for events and things.
Sold the laptop and phone. Going to get a dumb flip phone for a while. This is sort of cathartic.
Need me? Email me: me [at] mistershooby [d0t] com. If you’ve got my digits, there’s that too
Bye bye interweb
A quick video tour of my new place. I love it!
